Job description

The Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team at Kirwan Health Campus are seeking an experienced and client focused Rehabilitation Assistant for a permanent full-time role.
The Rehabilitation Assistant collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team of the relevant Rehabilitation Program team/unit in the delivery and support of specialist rehabilitation and therapeutic programs assisting consumers with enduring mental illness.

The Opportunity
This position will be predominantly based within the Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team (MIRT) and will also be required to work across the Townsville Community Care and Acquired Brain Injury Unit.
Role requirements

  • Completion of or willingness to complete a recognised training program at least equivalent to Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (non-clinical) recognised by Queensland Health (e.g. relevant TAFE Certificates or Diplomas).
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of duties.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • All employees of the Mental Health Service Group (MHSG) may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
Generous remuneration package value up to $79,737 p.a.comprising:
  • Salary rates between $2548.10 - $2678.70 p.f. (CA3)
  • Annual leave loading + leave
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
  • Advanced customer service experience relevant to the public health setting including the demonstration of patience, understanding, confidentiality and a positive approach that includes the ability to deescalate difficult situations.
  • High level written, verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal and external customers and stakeholders at various levels.
  • Highly accurate utilisation of Microsoft Office 365 suite and corporate/patient information systems and databases which includes the ability to retrieve and interpret performance information.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply standards, policies and procedures relevant to role to deliver patient and corporate outcomes that contribute to the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as an individual with limited supervision or collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, establishing work priorities, meeting deadlines, coordinating tasks and workflow and adapting as required to meet the needs of a changing work environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the relevance and application of values-based workplace behaviours and attributes.
  • Demonstrated awareness of, and ability to actively and effectively participate in a working environment supporting contemporary human resource practices including workplace health and safety, employment equity and anti-discrimination, ethical behaviour and continuous improvement.
