About the role
The community care unit (CCU) is an intensive residential rehabilitation facility in the community where assistance from mental health support workers is provided. The aim is to enhance a resident's skills for independent living in the community.
This role contributes to the care of Gailes Community Care Unit residents by providing clinical support tasks delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of a clinician. This role will be required to work all shifts as per a request-based roster and will support service delivery 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to acquire and apply knowledge to support service provision, such as knowledge of health care system, basic computer literacy, medical terminology and mental health conditions.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of the roles of various multi disciplinary team members and delegation principles to support collaborative working principles as well as to work within scope of practice.
- Self management skills, including time management, an ability to organise and prioritise tasks, complete duties in a timely manner with limited supervision, ability to follow directions and work in a team environment.
- Ability to apply recovery focused practice by working in collaboration with residents and encouraging their progress towards meeting their own life goals.

- Ability to work closely & collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team
- Possess a high level of communication skills to develop rapport and a professional relationship with residents. This includes providing assertive and active supports to encourage residents to achieve their goals.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the
- Completion of recognised training at least equivalent to a Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (non clinical).
