  • Join a growing and passionate internal community of reliability experts focussed on delivering excellence in reliability
  • Work with some of the biggest and most diverse mobile fleet within our iron ore business
  • Be part of an inclusive and diverse team that values teamwork, partnership and with a real passion to improve and make things better
  • Real opportunity to make an impact and advance your career

Where we’re all welcome

We are committed to an inclusive environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves. We want our people to feel that all voices are heard, all cultures respected and that a variety of perspectives are not only welcome – they are essential to our success. We treat each other fairly and with dignity regardless of race, gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or anything else that makes us different.

At Rio Tinto, we particularly welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, the LGBTI+ community, mature workers, people with disabilities and people from different cultural backgrounds.

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Reliability Engineers  to join our Maintenance Planning & Engineering Team (MP&E) team at Marandoo within Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO). Working with the latest in technology and innovation, you will use defect elimination and reliability engineering processes to improve asset performance, predominantly for the  Heavy Mobile and ancillary equipment.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer you will:

  • Lead and support investigations into asset failures and performance, including root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Leverage equipment performance data to successfully identify and implement reliability improvement initiatives
  • Recommend and implement tactics designed to support high levels of asset safety, reliability, and integrity
  • Provide technical engineering support to the site maintenance execution teams
  • Actively contribute to asset strategy by developing asset lifecycle plans and zero-based budgets for Mobile Equipment
  • Execute both technical and process-based projects derived to improve the performance of the fleet
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of our assets and review primary/ secondary maintenance tasks to improve asset reliability and cost
  • Demonstrate the Rio Tinto values of Care, Courage and Curiosity

What you’ll bring

You are someone who thrives on a challenge and is willing to be creative when solving technical problems. With a natural ability to relate to a diverse range of stakeholders, you will know how to effectively collaborate with others to drive successful outcomes. You would be able to independently manage time and prioritize the right work among all the tasks. Whilst an understanding of reliability-based principles and processes such as root cause analysis (RCA) and defect elimination will be highly regarded, of more importance will be your passion for learning and your enthusiasm for driving improvements and innovation!

A ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence will be required, as will tertiary qualifications in engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering degree). Previous experience with SAP and other maintenance and reliability software will be highly desirable.

If you are excited about the role and think you have what it takes but your experience doesn’t align 100% we still want to hear from you.
