The role
The Education Assistant works closely with classroom teachers and other staff to provide support to students inside and outside the classroom. Assisting students with learning difficulties to more effectively engage in learning will be the primary focus of the role.
This role is a casual position, providing relief for absent staff or during peak times.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A passion for working with children.
- A demonstrated ability to create and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
- An understanding of the learning needs of students in a primary and secondary school setting. In particular, an understanding of the needs of students with identified learning difficulties and disabilities that impact their learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certificate level qualifications in Education Support would be an advantage.
- The ability to obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check) is essential.
