Job description

Relief Librarian

  • Join our friendly and dynamic Library team
  • Relief role working across all sites (weekdays and weekends)
  • $40.3347 per hour (plus 25% casual loading)

An exciting opportunity is available at Boroondara Library Service for positive and self-motivated librarians with a strong customer focus, to join our team of relief staff, committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community. 

Please note that these are relief positions and there are no guaranteed hours of work and successful applicants may be offered shifts at any of our libraries within Boroondara.

We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with a strong customer focus, to join our team committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community. 

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will have excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of appropriate technical skills and current industry directions and high-level computing skills.  

Please note shifts may be offered:

  • Weekdays - between 8am and 9.15pm
  • Saturdays - between 9.30am to 5.15pm
  • Sundays - between 12.30pm to 5.15pm
  • School holidays, Christmas/New Year period and around public holidays

 Qualifications and Employment Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification which confers eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
  • Applicants must have the ability to lift, push or carry library resources around library buildings (subject to appropriate Occupational Health and Safety regulations).
  • Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check, hold a valid Working with Children Clearance, and undertake a medical assessment. 
  • All City of Boroondara employees must be fully vaccinated. Appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to provision of evidence of vaccination status or medical exemption prior to commencement.
  • Current driver's license is advantageous.
