Irene McCormack Catholic College offers a Catholic education from Year 7 to Year 12 that is Christ centred and Student focused, and inspired by the life of Sr Irene McCormack, Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. Qualifications & experience
Exciting opportunities have become available for suitably qualified and experienced Relief Teacher Assistant - Special Learning Needs.
The applicants will demonstrate a passion for education and the ability to support the delivery of innovative learning opportunities for students who have learning difficulties. The role includes working alongside teachers with the planning and delivery of curriculum, and programs such as Literacy, Numeracy and Personal Development. An understanding of strategies for behaviour management and supporting students with learning difficulties is preferable.
- A relevant Certificate in Special Needs Education
- Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (or willingness to work towards attainment)
- Current Working with Children Check
Tasks & responsibilities
- Plan and collaborate with Teachers and other teaching assistants to prepare resources for teaching and learning.
- Assist students with high support needs in their learning program and life skills throughout the school day
- Assist students in their transition around the school and in the classroom
- Support student learning and encourage social integration both in and out of the classroom
