Seeking Expressions of Interest from Teachers and Education Assistants for relief positions in Bunbury and Busselton
We are recruiting Relief Teachers and Education Assistants who are passionate about making a real difference.
PROFESSIONALS WITH EXPERIENCE IN BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY
South West Community College (formerly BRCC) is a supportive learning community that encourages students to achieve their potential through the approach of ‘one student at a time in a community of learners.’ Our students become responsible and active members of the community through a strong focus on the principles of the Big Picture design for learning, encompassing academic excellence, development of social skills, emotional wellbeing, respect, and values.
Our College is small with classes of 15-18 students undertaking their studies in years 10 to 12. Each class has a full-time teacher and Education assistant, and a social worker for each year group. The College is funded as a CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education) school and enrols students who have experienced barriers to learning in their previous high schools.
Whilst at SWCC students are:
- encouraged and helped to develop the literacy and numeracy skills that are needed for future success.
- provided opportunities to explore and develop their interests both with their teacher in the classroom and with mentors in the community.
- complete interest projects, achieve their OLNA, study a range of certificates and short courses; and
- enabled to develop the academic and personal skills that will help them to create positive, productive futures beyond school.
The Roles
We have a tremendous team of dedicated Teachers and Education Assistants, and we are seeking to develop a pool of similarly skilled and passionate individuals to help us out when the need arises.
We need professionals who are willing to share their interests, passions, and stories with the students. We require professionals who will seek out the strengths of each student, who can see and value their culture, talents and interests, who can help them fit by changing the school and classroom to meet their needs. We seek professionals who can help build the support of family and community, and who never give up on any student.
Teachers must have a current registration with the TRBWA.
Education Assistants with diverse backgrounds and qualifications are welcome to apply.
