Glennmont Partners is a leading clean energy infra manager with a long-standing successful track record. Over the last 12 years, Glennmont has invested in renewable power generation projects and assets in Europe. With Assets under Management of €3.6bn, Glennmont has strong experience across different technologies including: Offshore Wind, Onshore Wind, Solar PV and Biomass power plants. Today, Glennmont manages capital for around 55 institutional investors across three European and One Global equity Funds and one Credit Fund. The Funds investment strategy target a mix of capital appreciation and cash flow generative assets. Investment includes assets in operation, in construction and development projects. The team comprises around 65 FTE led by four Partners and six directors managing teams focussed on Asset Management, Investments and Credit. Glennmont Partners is 100% owned by Nuveen/TIAA, a global asset manager with USD1.3 trillion in assets under management. Glennmont is intending to grow its business rapidly in Asia and has a focused plan for future expansion. Glennmont has launched in 2021 a new flagship Vintage IV Fund with a target size of Eur2.0bn. The new infraequity fund has a global investment mandate covering Europe, Asia and North America. In order to accelerate the build-up of the Asian team Glennmont is looking to hire a seasoned investment professional responsible to lead the Australian new Office and drive the Australian investment agenda. The candidate must have direct experience in originating and executing Renewable Energy transactions in Australia as well as leading a small local investment and asset management team. The individual will report to the Head of Asia. The role offers potential for an attractive career path in clean energy as further funds with international and local mandates will be rolled out in the coming years.Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct market and competition analysis and establish strategy for the deployment of capital in Renewable Energy Investments in solar, and storage, in Australia.
- Manage the origination and execution of Australian clean Energy Investments (acquisitions, merges, project finance and divestures) in projects, joint ventures and development platforms, leading a small internal team, and external advisors.
- Oversee the production of financial models for Renewable Energy generation projects/assets.
- Supervise preparation of and defend investments proposals in the Investment Committee.
- Network and manage relationships with Australian co-investors – investments may range from minority stakes alongside local investor to 100% owned deals.
- Manage working relationships with external advisors (developers, lawyers, technical advisors, debt providers, EPC contractors, etc) in Australia.
- Attract third party debt funding and Lead negotiation of key economic aspect of investments with counterparties (lending banks, EPC, developers etc.).
- Oversee the operations of development platforms acquired or established by Glennmont.
- Ensure the efficient delivery of projects in development and construction using past experience in EPC, bank documentation preparation, legal documentation.
- Act as Board Member or Director of investee companies, monitor and review of the investments in the portfolio in Australia.
- Management accounts of portfolio’s assets.
- Support in liaising with Renewable Energy organisations, NGOs, utility companies and local authorities, etc.
- Follow market trends in the clean energy sector in Australia (regulatory framework, tariffs, country targets, etc).
- Manage the administrative tasks of the Australian office (premises, hiring, etc).
- Prior Renewable Energy transaction implementation (gained at bank, private equity fund, Renewable Energy developer or utility) is required.
- Significant relevant working experience in Australia.
- Strong project finance background in power energy from origination to closing.
- Experience in evaluating Renewable Energy development projects and platforms. Exposure to Join Development Agreement with developers
- Corporate finance transaction experience (from origination to execution) in the energy sector (preferably renewables).
- Relevant experience of power industry required.
- Experience in the Renewable Energy sector is a prerequisite, with a strong knowledge of the Australian Renewable Energy market and players, in order to understand implications of market trends and draw conclusions for appropriate actions. Experience in leading and directing small teams of investment professionals and asset managers.
- Sound and solid financial toolkit (building models, analysing financial statements, performing valuations, development or construction, structuring deals).
- A strategic approach, sound business judgment and a strong analytical and entrepreneurial mind-set
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Team player with the ability to develop trusting and open relationships with other employees.
- The role will require travelling regularly within Australia and periodically regionally/internationally.
- A strong academic background is required.
