Repairs and Maintenance Technician

LocalsCo

We are seeking a well-qualified and experienced Repairs and Maintenance Tradesman with Carpentry skills to join our group and take control of projects and Maintenance across the group assets. We have 6 large pubs that range in age from 3-158 years old, so the tasks are varied and often require a unique and hands-on approach! Additionally, there is a handful of properties in the group that will fall under your umbrella.   

We have some venue-based in-house maintenance team members who manage some of the day-to-day venue needs, however, we seek an experienced tradesman to provide direction, knowledge, and oversight and to take charge of the larger more complicated projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various maintenance tasks and small projects across multiple sites, with the ability to manage external trades and contractors ensuring that all facilities are in optimal condition. This position requires a self-motivated, proactive individual who is not only proficient in tradesman skills but also possesses a valid driver's license, a willingness to travel, and a clean police clearance. 

This is a South West-based role that will focus on venues in Bunbury and Australind but also incorporate travel to our Perth and Kalgoorlie sites. A vehicle will be provided.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with and reporting to the Building and Facilities Manager, providing recommendations and direction on how to tackle various projects in various locations;
  • Build relationships with key personnel within the broader LocalsCo group to ensure shared outcomes are achieved. Including but not limited to Operations Manager, Venue Managers, Head Chefs, Bottleshop Managers, Admin Managers and Maintenance teams;
  • Be hands-on with maintenance items, using outside trades only as required; 
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Perform inspections to identify potential issues and address them promptly.
  • Construct, fabricate and install small carpentry and cabinet items.
  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and report any issues to the appropriate manager.
  • Always ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Put in place, manage and oversee preventative maintenance schedules;
  • Immediate start preferred.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Police check no more than 6 months old;
  • Completion of a recognised trade qualification ideally multi trades with significant relevant experience;
  • Experience coordinating small to medium-sized facilities projects;
  • Experience in managing maintenance contractors including electrical, hydraulic, fire systems, HVAC & mechanical, plant & equipment, landscaping, finishing trades, vendors, and suppliers;
  • Strong time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks across multiple sites;
  • An ability to work autonomously within various team environments;
  • Be proactive and motivated in identifying projects and planning a solution;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, be proactive and plan effectively;
  • Strong written and verbal communication;
  • Intermediate computer skills, daily use of email and other software required for communication;
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, with expertise in Carpentry tradesman skills and profound knowledge in other trades skills such as electrical, plumbing, tiling etc;
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently;
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks;
  • Valid Construction Industry white card;
  • Ability to operate trade skills on a construction site;
  • Willingness and capability to undertake regular travel on an as-needed;
  • And most importantly – a positive, friendly and enthusiastic attitude.
