ABOUT THE ROLE

Weatherford Malaga, Perth is seeking for full-time permanent REPAIR & MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP TECHNICIANS / TRADE ASSISTANTS. The R&M Technician role undertakes hands-on tasks and utilizes Weatherford's facilities, equipment, machinery, and systems. The role applies techniques and practices to complete the scope of tasks covering inspection, repair, and maintenance of field tools, preparing them for their next assignment. Tasks will span the entire process from receiving the tools, dismantling, repairing, and refurbishing using technical manuals, procedures, and Technical work instructions.

This role will provide "hands-on" technical support to the production, and repair of equipment and/or tools. In shop environment, receives field tools, takes them apart, repairs and refurbishes tool to go back to the field. Repair and Maintenance Technician will work alongside trade's personnel, assisting in day-to-day operation, loading of jobs, inspection, cleaning and refurbishment of equipment for future use in the Oil & Gas industry. In addition to performing basic mechanical fitting/repair of oilfield equipment you will ensure a clean and tidy workshop at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

  • Perform basic workshop duties, including: repair and maintenance of offshore related equipment in accordance with company procedures under direction from Mechanical Supervisor and within your skill set.
  • Responsible for the management of the hydraulic hoses onsite and their respective register
  • Maintain good standard of housekeeping practices in workshop and yard.
  • Complete all necessary documentation pertaining to equipment movements and repairs.
  • Collect the relevant data, measure and check all equipment, review all QA /QC documents and third-party equipment to determine that the operation can be safely executed as per the agreed procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • R&M Technician Workshop Technician I /Trades Assistant - 0 - 2 years in Oil & Gas or Heavy industry.
  • R&M Technician Workshop Technician II / Trades Assistant - 3 - 4 years in Oil & Gas or Heavy industry.
  • R&M Technician Workshop Technician III Trades Assistant - 4+ years in Oil & Gas or Heavy industry.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION / EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or Certificate
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Mathematics
  • Working with hazardous materials, radioactive elements & explosives. Awareness of NDT, NDE and ATEX policies & principles
  • For those with 0 years of experience, pre-apprenticeship, workplacement experience or traineeship in Mechanical / Electrical is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift ticket
  • Dogman's Ticket
  • Previous experience working in a busy workshop in similar roles
  • Experience in LEAN practices would be beneficial

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of Hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Fast learner, results oriented and independent with strong interpersonal skills
  • Good QHSE procedural knowledge
  • Good communication skill.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, monitoring of equipment.
  • Critical thinking, active learning & listening, complex problem solving.
  • Good reading and writing skills, strong judgement, and Decision-making to be in line with policies AND procedures.
  • Time management
  • Quality Control Analysis to ensure product meets required standards.
  • Capable to meet the physical demands that the role requires
  • Information & task ordering & ability to identify when a problem may occur and where possible to understand solution
  • Ability to react effectively and efficiently in operating tools and machinery
  • Ability to imagine how tools and products will look when preparing for assembly, repair or modifications.

MOBILISATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Based in Malaga, Perth
  • 8am - 4:30pm with potential overtime (eligible for OT penalty rate)
  • Workshop environment - no travel required.
  • Immediate start preferred.
