Our reporters are multi-platform journalists producing content for TV, radio, online and social media but don’t be put off if you haven’t got skills in all these fields. If you know how to break news, we will teach you how to produce it for all platforms.
To jump into this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Advanced journalistic, editorial and research skills to source and break original local stories that resonate with target audiences.
- Substantial understanding of issues that affect the local audience.
- Experience in guiding and developing content makers to create distinctive and compelling, multi-platform content.
About the Role
Our team at ABC Sunshine Coast is seeking a Reporter for a 10 month fixed term contract to lead editorial planning and production across multiple platforms, and break original and agenda setting local stories for local and national audiences. Working alongside a skilled team, you will:
- Break news stories first that engage, inform and entertain.
- Substantially research and scrutinise issues of public interest and undertake very complex planning and production.
- Lead the planning, development and delivery of local and current affairs content in collaboration with other ABC content teams for multiple platforms.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.
The role is based at the ABC office in Maroochydore, in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, 90 minutes north of Brisbane.
