The Opportunity

Join us at the University of the Sunshine Coast as the Senior Lead, Privacy, Records, and Data Governance, under the visionary guidance of our Chief Data Officer. In this pivotal position, you'll oversee the delivery of essential privacy, records, and Data Governance services university-wide. As part of our newly established Insights and Analytics Unit, you'll have the exciting opportunity to enhance coordination and leverage data to drive value, efficiency, and growth.

You will

  • take the lead in refining privacy, records, and Data Governance practices across our university, constantly striving for improvement;
  • drive the development of a program to boost awareness and understanding of privacy, records, and Data Governance, equipping our community with the knowledge they need for compliance and efficiency;
  • provide expert guidance on privacy, Data Governance, and records management, supporting evidence-based decision-making and knowledge retention university-wide; and
  • guide a skilled team of information management professionals, actively participating in our Insights and Analytics Unit Leadership Team.

About you

Our ideal candidate is someone who leads by example, fostering a culture of respect and responsibility towards information management. You'll be the go-to person for ensuring we stay on top of privacy regulations and policies, providing expert guidance every step of the way. Collaboration is your forte, as you work closely with peers to fortify our data security measures and mitigate risks. You'll be a trusted advisor, offering timely support and insights to various stakeholders. As a key player in shaping our Data Strategy and Analytics Roadmap, you'll bring valuable perspective and direction, guiding our team towards continuous improvement and success.

You will possess:

  • strong leadership skills, adept at leading change initiatives and fostering a collaborative team environment;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, skilled at negotiation and cooperation across diverse teams;
  • proficient in identifying and managing risk controls to ensure compliance with legislation;
  • highly organised with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, contributing effectively to projects and systems development to meet deadlines;
  • extensive experience in policy and strategy development, particularly in privacy and information management, with a focus on contemporary data practices; and
  • good knowledge of compliance requirements under relevant legislative frameworks in the higher education sector
