The Role:
The Aviation Capability Group is experiencing significant growth and to due to this growth, we are seeking experienced Rescue Crew Officers based in Cairns. The successful applicant will be a specialist in 'down the wire' operations over land and water, whilst conducting the Search and Rescue (SAR), Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Queensland Police Service (QPS) operations.
Key Accountabilities
Your Key Accountabilities will include:
- Assist the aircrew to carry out all aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support duties.- Perform the down the wire rescue role during winching operations.- Ensure the Pilot in Command is promptly advised on all matters affecting the safety, serviceability or effectiveness of the aircraft or the operation.- Assist in ensuring that all flight and task documentation is accurately completed and that all crews are adequately briefed and de-briefed and any deficiencies promptly addressed.- Carry out all duties and training in accordance with the QGAir Rescue Operations Manual.- Provide administrative duties and other support to the Base Manager and assist in maintaining a safe, orderly and clean aircraft and hangar.
Mandatory requirements:
Licences, Endorsements & Training
- Possession of a C class licence.
Certifications & Documentation
- Current CASA Aviation Class 2 Medical Certificate- Hold a Senior First Aid Certificate- Advanced Resuscitation/CPR Certificate- Previously held a Bronze Medallion Surf Life Saving qualification or Certificate II Public Safety/Aquatic Rescue.
Highly desirable requirements:
Licences, Endorsements & Training
- Previous Rescue Crew Officer qualification, with operational experience.- Endorsed AW139.- Night Vision Goggle flight experience.- Crew Resource Management.- Dangerous Goods Awareness Training.- Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET).- Helicopter Aircrew Breathing Device (HABD) Training.- Flight Radio Operators Certificate.- Basic Aeronautical Knowledge Certificate
Special Conditions:
Applicants must pass the Rescue Crew Physical Fitness test comprising of:1. 1500m swim (50m pool); last 500 metres with fins to be completed in under 30 minutes.2. 3.2km run to be completed in under 14 minutes.
Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.The successful applicant must comply with the organisations Drug and Alcohol Management Plan.
