About UQ

As part of the UQ community, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world, and within an environment where interdisciplinary collaborations are encouraged.

As part of our commitment to research excellence, we are proud to provide our staff with access to world-class facilities and equipment, grant writing support, greater research funding opportunities, and post-fellowship contracts via our UQ Amplify initiative.

At the core of our teaching remains our students, and their experience with us sets a foundation for success far beyond graduation. Not only do we have one of the largest PhD enrolments in Australia, but we have also made a commitment to making education opportunities available for all Queenslanders, regardless of personal, financial, or geographical barriers.

About This Opportunity

Supported by the Minderoo Foundation, an exciting opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Fellow to join the world-class research team at Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences Centre (QAEHS).

A key QAEHS objective aims to measure plastics in complex biological media. We are therefore searching for scientists who have completed (or are nearing completion) a PhD in environmental chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, (eco)toxicology, or a related area, with experience in the research context. You will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in using different techniques to accurately identify particles in the nano-size range, possess a fundamental knowledge of how these techniques work and show a demonstrated aptitude to learning new technologies.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position through to 30 June 2027. This opportunity is being offered at Academic Level A or B commensurate with the successful candidate's skills and experience.

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A), you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise and emerging research profile in your discipline and contribute to various service and engagement roles and activities within the Centre. As a research focused academic at Level A, you will be supported and guided by more senior academic research staff with the expectation of an increasing degree of autonomy over time.

As a Research Fellow (Level B), you will engage in research to further your expertise and growing research profile to achieve national recognition in your discipline. As a research focused academic at Level B, you will be responsible for efficiently managing service and engagement roles and activities and fulfilling the necessary requirements to contribute to the effective supervision of Honour and Higher Degree by Research students.

At Level A, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324 - $102,945 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,470 - $120,445 annually.
