Salary: Level A $80,258 - $108,906 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) plus 17% super
  • Contribute to groundbreaking research, including a meditation trial and longitudinal study, shaping mental health and meditation science.
About the Role
The Contemplative Studies Centre (CSC) within the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences has two flagship research projects. The first includes a randomized controlled trial of varying meditation doses for mental health and well-being, as well as exploring how people use meditation apps, and the second is a longitudinal study of individuals' experiences of progress in meditation practices. The Research Assistant will contribute to both these projects, which will include collaborating with representatives from meditation traditions to establish markers of meditative progress whilst contributing to the expansion of Contemplative Studies research, education, and community engagement at the CSC.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting research teams in survey setup, project management, data storage, ethics compliance, and assist with reporting and analysis.
  • Manage daily research operations, including participant enrolment, communication, query resolution, and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Actively participate at project team meetings and with guidance, contribute to planning activities
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and time management skills, experience in quantitative research with a grasp of basic statistical testing, strong interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships with stakeholders, and well-developed teamwork abilities.
You will also have:
  • A Honours or Master's degree in behavioural or social sciences or a related discipline
  • Experience doing or assisting with qualitative research.
  • Experience working with survey platforms such as Qualtrics.
  • Interest in the processes associated with learning contemplative practices and their potential applications to mental and well-being.
