Research Assistant - RemoteABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking one or two enthusiastic and skilled Research Assistants for a fixed term engagement to cover Parental Leave. The position will provide support for a range of projects across the research, policy and consulting portfolios. One role will include a focus on regional migration projects.The migration project suite examines factors impacting attraction, settlement and retention of regional migrants. The work is part of our public interest research program and provides an exciting opportunity to meaningfully contribute to shaping policy and practice in the regions.The Research Assistants will contribute to literature and policy reviews, stakeholder engagement, fieldwork, interviews and focus groups, collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, administration and report writing.Ideally, we’d love you to be as passionate about regional Australia as we are and have a desire to be part of a culture focused on empowerment, curiosity, courage and authenticity.Duration: 6 months Fixed term (Parental Leave contract)

Regional Australia InstituteKEY RESPONSIBILITIESAs a Research Assistant you will work within our Research, Policy and Consulting team, contributing to our program of research projects.Key responsibilities include working with other staff on the following:
- Conducting comprehensive reviews of existing literature and policy documents
- Assisting with stakeholder engagement, interviewing, consultation, focus groups and events.
- Collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data
- Contributing to project administration and report writing
- Keeping up to date with issues and trends in research techniques, and exchanging relevant information with other staff members
- Other duties as requested commensurate with skills, knowledge and experience.
- Sound knowledge of research design including qualitative (and quantitative) data collection, analysis and reporting methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A high level of organisation, motivation and ability to work to deadlines.
- Commitment to regional Australia and knowledge about international migration policies, programs and practices.
- Proficiency with relevant research tools including Zotero, NVivo, spreadsheets and databases.
- Graduate to two years’ experience in relevant roles, with research experience highly regarded.
- Mandatory: Tertiary qualifications in Humanities, Social Science, Demography, Geography, Economics, or another relevant field of study.
- Desirable: Postgraduate (Honours / Masters / PhD) qualifications in a relevant field.
