Job description

As a Research Data Specialist at MDAP, you'll work closely with researchers across the University of Melbourne, supporting their projects through expert data management and analysis. From collecting and visualizing data to building software and advising on computing resources, you'll play a vital role in bringing research to life. This includes development of the prototype Australian Stem Cell Registry, a collaborative project with Professor Christine Wells.
This role also brings the opportunity to build a community of Data Specialists across the university. You'll share expertise, organize events, and promote collaboration, shaping a vibrant support network for researchers. By joining MDAP, you'll contribute to the University's internationally recognized research efforts, build relationships, and enhance the platform's reputation as a key translator workforce.

advice, support and development to researchers * Help to strengthen communities of practice through active collaboration, networking and membership across all research areas
  • Using your engagement networks to enhance leadership and visibility of data intensive research

You will also have:
  • A PhD or equivalent experience in research software development, data management and/or data analysis.
  • Database design and web development experience.
  • Expertise in web technologies such as Python, Django (or other Python web frameworks such as Flask, Pyramid), JavaScript, CSS.
