The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Family Life in a permanent, part-time capacity as our Research & Evaluation Advisor, based at our Frankston and Sandringham offices on Bunurong Land. This role will support Family Life’s capacity to undertake a range of monitoring, evaluation and research activities, enhancing the way we evidence impact and promoting a culture and commitment to demonstrating outcomes for the child and family services sector. 

The Research & Evaluation Advisor is responsible for supporting a range of internal and external monitoring, evaluation and research activities. With a focus on continuous improvement and maximising use of data, this role will primarily support Family Life use data and outcome measures to monitor, evidence and inform the work we do with clients and the community. 

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Work with data systems to extract, analyse and present data to internal stakeholders (for example periodic program specific reports or dashboards, and annual organisation-wide performance and impact reports) 
  • Monitor, synthesize and share key learnings from client feedback surveys with service teams to enhance practice improvements
  • Support programs maintain compliance with external donor requirements (for example through program logic development/review, supporting accurate and complete data collection)
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation strategies for different programs and support their implementation. This includes developing and reviewing theories of change/program logics, conducting evaluations and other work in line with Family Life’s Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Framework
  • Assist with the development and analysis of surveys (for example volunteer surveys) and other measurement tools
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance data compliance and use, including promoting ethical standards that value and enhance the voice of clients and community
  • Support tender writing and submissions as required

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced monitoring, evaluation and/or research professional, with a higher degree or equivalent in the Social Sciences and experience contributing to evaluation and research projects (preferably in the not-for-profit sector) using a range of methods and designs.

Our ideal candidate can competently work with qualitative and quantitative data sets to analyse and present findings. Experience working with data systems, and analysis and presentation software (Excel, Power BI, NVivo, SPSS) would be highly regarded.

Our ideal candidate can work autonomously and as part of a team, has excellent administration and project management skills, can effectively engage and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and is open to continued learning and development.
