• Base salary range: $108,509 - $128,404 p.a. plus 17% superannuation, depending on qualifications, skills and experience

The School has broad expertise across marine biology, ecology, conservation biology, evolutionary biology, computational biology, plant and animal physiology, and genomics. Our undergraduate and postgraduate courses consistently rate very highly in student evaluations, which in part reflects our strong emphasis on practical and field-based teaching.About the opportunityReporting to Professor David Edwards, you will contribute to and lead the preparation of research and review papers in the field of applied bioinformatics, undertake applied bioinformatics research and support the continued success of the applied bioinformatics group. Additionally, you will be involved in the supervision of other research team members involved in the projects and contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate level courses or units.To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate:

• PhD in applied bioinformatics, or a relevant combination of experience and education or training
• Experience in genome analysis, preferably with plant genomes
• Extensive experience in writing scientific manuscripts and reports
• Proficiency in a range of computing skills including Linux and specialist bioinformatics software
• Knowledge and experience of pangenomics or machine learning applications is desirable
