About the Role
We have a unique and career changing opportunity within the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work as the Research Fellow in Psychology. As the successful candidate, you will undertake research under the broad direction of the Chief Investigator, as part of an Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space. The Centre, led from the University of Adelaide, aims to create on-demand, zero-waste, high efficiency plants and plant products to address grand challenges in sustainability for Space and on Earth. This multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary team has been awarded $35 million in funding from the Australian Research Council for a 7-year Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space (2024-2030). You will be collaborating on this exciting project with colleagues from various scientific backgrounds and other multi-disciplinary teams in plant, food, and sensory science; process and systems engineering; law and policy; and psychology to deliver transformative solutions for Space habitation and create enhanced plant-derived food and bioresources to capitalise upon emergent and rapidly expanding domestic and global markets. In working with the Chief Investigator and research team, the position will contribute to project design and implementation, the analysis of data and the preparation of manuscripts for publication.
Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:
Actively contributing to the research project by collaborating with the Research Team and external stakeholders to successfully deliver project milestones and Key Performance Indicators.
Independently contributing to the planning and execution of research by offering new and innovative ideas, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information, actively participating in the production of data, contributing to the writing, and editing of grant applications and attending seminars, meetings, and conferences.
Independently contributing to ethical, high quality and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as scholarship, publishing in recognised high quality journals and assisting the preparation and submission of bids for external research funding.

You are open to understand matters from different perspectives while maintaining a strong and confident voice for the psychological point of view of the research. Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:
Completion of a PhD in Psychology is essential.
Demonstrated research experience in terms of publications in high quality publications, attraction of external competitive grants and presentations at a national and/or international level in Psychology.
Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
Demonstrated experience delivering project targets on time.
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute data collection and analysis.
