About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to the Acquired Brain Injury in Children (ABiC) program. This person will have expertise in concussion, traumatic brain injury, and cutting-edge neuroimaging technologies. They will be required to engage in research to further their expertise and growing research profile, aiming for national recognition in their discipline.

As a Research Fellow within the ABiC program, you will mentor and supervise students, conduct data analyses, manuscript preparation, and pursue independent and collaborative funding opportunities to support research initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate competitive proficiency for the NHMRC investigator grant scheme.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop an independent and/or team research program to achieve national recognition and impact in the field of Acquired Brain Injury in Children.
  • Produce high-quality research outputs by publishing in national research journals, presenting at conferences, and taking a lead role in research outputs.
  • Actively seek, obtain, and manage research funding by participating in applications for competitive grants.
  • Develop and enhance researcher capability and skill through mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage internal service roles and administrative processes efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate in service activities external to the immediate unit, fostering partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years. At Academic level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201.26 - $128,201.75, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to$126,595.47 - $149,996.05 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You
  • Completion of a PhD in the neuroscience or health-related subject.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and concussion/traumatic brain injury OR relevant experience in neuromodulation.
  • Have excellent statistical and analytical skills, and writing abilities.
  • A growing profile in research in the discipline area.
  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
  • A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
  • Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.
  • Blue Card: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to possess a valid Blue Card.
