Part time (0.6 FTE) fixed term for 2 yearsOpportunity for a Research focused academic to contribute to research in Infectious Diseases and vaccination in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific regionBase Salary $118,390 + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute (Sydney ID) is a multidisciplinary Flagship Research Centre within the University which engages multiple Faculties and Schools and whose home Faculty is the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Sydney ID is dedicated to solving two of the greatest global challenges of our time –Infectious Diseases and antimicrobial resistance. Our vision is to reduce the health and socioeconomic consequences of Infectious Diseases in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific region, by translating our work into public health and health practice and policy.This position is based in the Social and Behavioural Insights in Immunisation research group led by Professor Julie Leask and Dr Kerrie Wiley. The group are based in the School of Public Health.The School is looking to appoint a Research Fellow to undertake independent and collaborative research in the field of immunisation social science in a public health / one health context.Your key responsibilities will be to:undertake research aimed at closing national, regional, and global gaps in immunisation coverageprovide expert technical and scientific support in the relevant behavioural sciences to contracted projectsdemonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant statistical methods applicable to the behavioural sciences, including the capacity to perform relevant statistical analyses as requiredconduct qualitative health researchsynthesise and effectively communicate evidence on vaccination social and behavioural sciences to contracting partners and Immunisation program managersproject management responsibilities in collaboration with research support staffcontributing to creating a positive workplace culture that values the diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence, and achieving outcomeshelp foster Sydney ID as the face of Infectious Diseases and related research at the University of Sydney.About youhave a PhD in behavioural science, social science, Public/Global Health or related doctoral qualificationsproven experience in the gathering and use of behavioural and social sciences data related to vaccination and other preventive health behaviours, either in human or animal healtha track record of publications, reports and other relevant research outputs related to vaccination uptake and other preventive health behavioursproven experience conducting qualitative health researchdemonstrated ability to provide valuable, pragmatic advice to contractors in global agencies, governments, and civil society organisationsfamiliarity with statistical and / or qualitative research software is desirableTo keep our community safe, please be aware of our which form our conditions of entry for all staff, students and visitors coming to campus.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaPlease note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
