About Research Development and Support
Research Development and Support (RDS) works with Flinders researchers, Colleges, Centres and Institutes, other portfolios, and external stakeholders to proactively support our research. Our teams underpin Flinders' research evolving from ideas through to impact. RDS is part of the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides excellence in all facets of research management and promoting Flinders' research.

About the Role
As the Research Partnerships Director, you will strive to build the University's research profile, capabilities, and reputation to ensure Flinders strategic plan remains in step with global leaders in the higher education landscape. Your leadership will be integral for identifying, developing, and implementing strategic opportunities, and potential Research Partnerships with government and non-government organisations. You will represent Flinders' research interests to prospective stakeholders to identify project opportunities and secure external fund generation to strengthen the collaborative link between key research leadership teams, support staff, industry, and government.

In this role, you will also:

  • Negotiate agreements and project terms.
  • Integrate and contribute to procedure change, and policy development.
  • Provide high level advice to the University on research matters relating to engagement with industry and government.

About You
As a natural leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will maintain strong and collegial relationships with staff and stakeholders. Harnessing your expertise in business and stakeholder engagement, you will excel in consulting, and networking to identify and negotiate advantageous business opportunities. You will demonstrate a high level of written communication skills, including the ability to write high-quality business plans and proposals. Your keen attention to detail will allow you to prioritise and manage multiple complex projects to meet deadlines while always demonstrating a commitment to high quality service delivery. You possess advanced analytical skills and have experience solving complex programs that require strategic thought and independent judgment.

To be successful in this position, you will also have postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training. You will also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of the public research policy environment and associated funding opportunities.
