Location: Bayswater, VIC (present), Bundoora VIC (mid 2024 onwards).Reports to: Research and Development Manager
About the role:
Systematic Medicine is an early stage biotech company conducting research into ageing. Our long term goal is to identify druggable targets that could slow or reverse human ageing. Our current focus is to conduct feasibility studies into several promising therapeutic strategies, selecting the best ones for further investment.
The initial focus for this role will be to investigate changes in the proteome with age. The objectives include identifying proteins that change in abundance with age and uncovering the underlying mechanisms. This will serve as a foundation for the development of interventions to reverse these changes. This position involves active collaboration with researchers specialising in animal models of aging, providing access to valuable samples for analysis and models to test the efficacy of interventions.
Systematic Medicine is fully funded by its parent company Leading Technology Group, with all staff on permanent contracts. Employment is not tied to a particular project, if a project is discontinued there will be other interesting science to work on.
What we require:
PhD in biomedical science
Strong understanding of statistics and experimental design.
Ability to analyse large datasets using R, Python or other programming language.
Strong knowledge of protein chemistry and molecular biology.
Experience with biophysical and/or biochemical protein assays.
Experience with mass-spectrometry based proteomics is desirable but not essential.
