Our client, located in Bentley, is looking for an experienced Research Services Officer to join the team on a temporary basis until Christmas.
Your new role
Undertake a broad range of tasks which may include but are not limited to:
- Administer processes and make decisions on rules and entitlements. May apply expertise in regard to a particular RSS function
- Provide support to research stakeholders by providing interpretation and advice based on a broad understanding of a range of university policies and external requirements.
- Solve problems through standards application or policies and procedures.
- Use systems and processes which capture, measure and promote the broad economic, social and cultural impact of research and its outputs.
- Engage and liaise with key university service providers (e.g. Legal Services, Financial Services, People & Culture, and Properties).
- Support the embedding of a change in the service delivery offered to Curtin’s researchers by always being committed to improvement and new ways of working.
- Undertake other activities as required
- Review and develop research proposals and student applications
- Interpretation of funding rules, associated funder requirements and obligations, and relevant legislation, codes and guidelines.
- Provide research finance services, including budget development, project account setups, financial reporting, invoicing, cost recovery and closure of project accounts.
- Proactively support successful research projects, including monitoring and reporting on contractual and project milestones.
- Support the development, review and coordination of research projects and strategic research contracts
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience in administering and applying policies and procedures and the ability to provide advice and decisions on rules and entitlements.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to use discretion and knowledge to determine appropriate actions.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to accuracy and detail within deadlines in a high volume environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and to consult and liaise with stakeholders across an organisation
- Demonstrated computer literacy with skills in a wide range of applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
