Experienced Residential Care Workers required!
At YLO, we are currently seeking Residential Care Workers to join our team in providing therapeutic care and support to children and young people on a casual (relief) basis in our Residential houses located in the Northern Gold Coast area.
As a casual Residential Care Worker, ideally you will be able to work a mix of sleepovers, dayshifts, weekends and and week days and have good availability. The ability to work weekend sleepover shifts is required.
As a Residential Care Worker, you will be required to:
- Attend to the daily care needs of children and young people;
- Provide therapeutic support and guidance and ensure consistency of care at all times;
- Manage challenging and complex behaviours;
- Facilitate the operation of the residential household including cleaning, cooking and other relevant tasks;
- Support and promote social, emotional, behavioural and developmental outcomes for children and young people
As children and young people within Residential Care frequently display challenging and complex behaviours and emotional processing difficulties, you will need to possess experience within Residential Care field and have resilience and confidence in dealing with such matters.
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- minimum 1 year experience in working within a Residential Care setting and or experience in an educational setting, or substantial life experience with children and young people
- Resilience and an ability to remain calm in times of crisis;
- Knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of children and young people, trauma and resulting emotional and behavioural issues;
- Knowledge of legislation, policy and issues relating to children and young people involved with the Department of Child Safety
- A valid Queensland drivers licence; and
- an Apply First Aid certificate
You will need:
- Minimum qualifications have been introduced to the sector so will need to have qualifications within the youth work, social work, psychology or behavioural science areas are required (minimum Certificate IV qualification) or be currently enrolled and studying;
- A valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) from the Public Safety Business Agency; and
- A Positive Suitability Check.
You will be required to use your own vehicle in undertaking relevant duties and therefore must hold comprehensive car insurance. It is also expected that you will be willing to travel up to 1 hour to undertake work activities in our various Residential houses.
