Position Overview:
Residential Youth Workers play a crucial role in our organisation by providing day-to-day assistance and support to our young residents in alignment with their support needs and identified goals. As a Residential Youth Worker, you will be an integral part of our mission to nurture, guide, and empower young individuals.
Responsibilities:
• Guide and assist with personal care needs, including meals, meal preparation, and hygiene
• Accompany and support young people during outings and community activities
• Provide transportation to school, appointments, and community-based activities
• Facilitate skill development and socialisation within the local community and pro-social peers
• Assist with medication administration and adequate medication data record management
• Create a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable young people and children with trauma backgrounds
• Offer trauma-informed care to children and young people dealing with complex behavioural challenges and trauma backgrounds
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Youth Work (or higher)
• Qualification of Certificate IV or higher in other recognised fields (refer to the 'Minimum Qualification Standards Information Sheet')
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training is highly preferred but not essential
• Current Blue and Yellow Card
• Current Driver's License
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• High-level written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with clients with challenging behaviours and complex care needs
• Current Medication Competency is highly desirable
• Confidence, professionalism, and a client-focused approach
• Strong professional boundaries and adherence to procedures
• Flexibility to work within various environments and collaborate effectively as part of a team
• Completion of the "Worker Orientation Module - Quality, Safety, and You" and Child Safety "Hope & Healing" framework (or willingness to complete)
Availability:
Candidates should have a high level of availability to work a mixture of day, night, and weekend shifts as required.
