About the position
The purpose of this entry level position is to provide an opportunity for workers to participate in the work of a multidisciplinary team assisting vulnerable young people in need of support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whilst building their capability, knowledge and experience within an AOD setting. The AOD Support Worker you will be required to work a 24 hour roster which includes day, evening and night shifts. Role incumbents will build and apply clinical skills under supervision in the assessment and support of drug and/or alcohol withdrawal (including medication management) from substance use as well as a focus on primary health care for vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities for this role include:
Experience and demonstrated understanding of working with young people with problematic alcohol and drug issues in a residential withdrawal setting and within the context of harm reduction.
Experience in facilitating groups, and coordinating and participating in recreational activities with young people.
Demonstrated understanding of care planning and review.
Developed engagement and communication skills with young people from a range of backgrounds (including cultural awareness) and age groups
Maintaining a professional approach in all communication and engagement activities with service stakeholders
