The Role

As the Resort Operations Manager you’ll be responsible for assisting the Resort Manager in the leadership and operation of the resort, to achieve approved business objectives. This position is responsible for assisting in planning, directing and managing the Resorts operations with an emphasis on driving a proactive approach to sales, to ensure all sales targets are met, that the appropriate quality and levels of service are provided to members and guests whilst ensuring that departmental, divisional and corporate objectives are achieved.

Some key focus areas include

  • Ensure the smooth daily operation of the resort by managing all financial, human and other resources to meet agreed objectives.
  • Embed service standards at the highest level and to standards agreed across the Leisure portfolio in all aspects of Resort operations. 
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholder groups, both internal and external.
  • Help execute the strategic and operational plans for RACV Cape Schanck Resort taking into consideration the development of facilities and services, working closely with internal stakeholders on initiatives to drive revenue.
  • Monthly reporting to the Resort Manager and the Leadership Team on operational and financial performance and results, and progress towards achievement of agreed strategies and objectives.
  • Manage labour expenses within allocated budget and in accordance with business volumes, using the optimum mix of full time, part time and casual staff.
  • Act as a positive role model and empower and positively motivate staff by providing opportunities for rewarding excellence, learning, personal growth and access to career management processes.
  • Ensure the work practices and work environment of the resort are compliant with required policy, procedure and legislation.

The ideal candidate would ideally possess:

  • Previous experience in a senior management role, preferably in a 5-star Resort or Hotel
  • Previous experience in the management of leisure operations would be advantageous; golf & day spa
  • Exposure to strategic planning, risk management, forecasting, budgeting and financial processes, including cost control
  • Awareness of marketing principles, selling techniques and channels with flair for conceptualising and maximising promotional opportunities
  • Project oversight of capital works and resort development
  • Solid understanding of staff management practices including recruitment, reward and recognition, performance, retention, development and engagement
  • The ability to navigate a corporate structure focused on compliance, taking a detailed and considered approach
  • Understanding of relevant legislation: OH&S, Equal Opportunity, Privacy Act etc
  • Knowledge of RACV products and services, Club and Resort facilities
