How you'll make an impact

This role is a National one, responsible for supporting the Sales team in positioning of North as the market leading retirement solution platform. The role supports the broader sales team in achieving Retirement solution targets as well as Wealth Distribution sales targets. - i.e. growing its funds under administration through new business sales particularly in the pre retiree / retiree market.

The individual is also responsible for positioning and promoting AMP's overall product suite including AWMI's suite of investment products which are available on the investment menu of AMP platforms and its Master Trust products.

Success in this role will require a high level of Superannuation and Retirement technical knowledge, disciplined execution and a well-considered business plan that aims at deepening and broadening support from financial advisers. Collaboration with AMP Wealth Distribution's Business Development Managers is a key factor to success in this role.

Main Focus Areas

Individual Performance

  • Execute Sales initiatives in the pre retiree / retiree demographic to maximise new business opportunities and customer retention.
  • Work with Business Development Managers to support them in their pipeline of new business opportunity and to achieve their targets, in the Retirement segment
  • Engage, qualify and grow revenue from key partner advice businesses
  • Protect and maximise embedded value including funds under administration, investment share of wallet and customer numbers.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of sales frameworks, methodologies and processes to support the Wealth Management focus areas.
  • Adherence to all sales disciplines including agreed activity management, timeliness of reporting responsibilities, initiative delivery, risk & compliance framework
  • Provide thought leadership and adopt an insight led approach to position AMPs solutions and assist advisers in achieving their business objectives, particularly in the area of Retirement
  • Grow adviser productivity through identifying opportunities to improve their business efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Understand industry trends and adviser business drivers to help them navigate a fast changing environment to maximise opportunities and mitigate challenges
  • Understand competitor landscape to enhance the AMP offering and successfully overcome objections.
  • Build effective partnerships internally to help create positive customer and adviser experiences
  • Willingness to make a positive difference beyond core deliverables by adopting a team first approach
  • Ongoing contribution to a high-performance culture through commitment to ongoing improvement, personal development, flexible and adaptive attitude to change, individual & team accountabilities.


Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deliver retirement planning content to support the wider sales team in achieving their financial goals.
  • Present at PD days and industry events
  • Develop strong adviser relationships and an understanding of their business objectives to support their planning outcomes for retirement.
  • Maintain technical knowledge on Superannuation in general and Retirement outcomes specifically.
  • Align sales activities to the agreed focus areas for AMP Wealth Management
  • Personally, responsible for adhering to the risk & compliance framework and to act in the best interest of AMP's customers.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure quality of approach, consistency of behaviour and key messages to the market.
  • Processing of expenses: reconcile corporate AMEX card and reimbursements monthly.
  • Develop new business leads and progress opportunities from existing and new adviser relationships
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and timely records of adviser relationship activities using appropriate systems.
  • Provide AMP product and system support to advisers to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Work effectively within AMP's shared values and behaviours. Alignment to team and enterprise vision and ability to articulate this in a clear and compelling manner.


What you will bring to the team

Ideally, you will bring the following experiences to this role:

  • 3 years' experience in financial service industry (or related industry)
  • Previous sales role in Financial Services highly desirable
  • Ability to judge market opportunities and AMP's competitiveness in those sectors
  • Evidence of adaptation to a rapidly changing environment
  • A strong understanding of the Financial Planning market including compliance
  • RG146 (previously PS146) compliant
  • Diploma of Financial Planning (or equivalent tertiary qualification) is highly desirable
