About the role
We are currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic experienced Rig Mechanic familiar with Oil & Gas Workover/Drilling Rigs
You will report directly to the Maintenance Coordinator and liaise with Operations and Field staff to ensure the seamless operation of our rig fleet and support equipment
This role is field based with an even time 2:2 week DIDO and/or FIFO roster arrangement from Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, or Melbourne.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Adherence to company and client policies and procedures
- Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly
- Interpret engineering, schematic and mechanical diagrams, drawings or specifications to determine job requirements
- Diagnosing faults and providing technical support as required ensuring uninterrupted field activities.
- Inspect and repair heavy vehicles and trailers as per the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (Maintenance)
- Servicing, Inspecting, maintaining and performing repairs to all rig and support equipment in accordance with company requirements to optimise uptime and achieve Mechanical Availability targets
- Manage inspection and re-certification of critical components
- Liaise with the Rig Manager, Driller and other Field Staff as required to schedule Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of rig equipment
- Ensure materials, parts and equipment for maintenance are ordered and replenished in a timely manner to maintain required inventory levels and to meet deadlines
- Maintain detailed maintenance records for work completed using company systems
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Physical strength, fitness to work and stamina in order to be able to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position and respond to situations of emergency

- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, to work within guidelines and procedures
- Strong report writing skills, with high attention to detail

- Have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and be a team player
- Proven ability to fault find and troubleshoot under pressure
- Proven experience working in an autonomous role and ability to manage your own workload
Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screen
It is preferred you have experience with:
- Working within the Oil & Gas or Mining Industry
- National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme - Maintenance
- Caterpillar, Detroit & Mercedes Benz Diesel Engines
- PLC Diagnostics/troubleshooting
- Centrifugal Pumps
- Advanced Hydraulic/Pneumatic systems knowledge
- Experience with 4WD Vehicles, Toyota; Isuzu, Mercedes Benz, Western Star, Volvo Trucks and JCB Telehandlers is highly regarded
- Experience working with High Pressure Air Compressors and Boosters
You must meet the below criteria to be considered:
- Hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate (Diesel / Heavy Vehicle)
- Valid Vehicle Drivers Licence (C Class Minimum)
- Willingness to travel Nationally (as required)
