The Senior Risk and Business Continuity Officer is a hands-on risk practitioner and knowledge leader responsible for the review, improvement and maintenance of the organisations risk management system and Business Continuity framework.
This role works under limited supervision of the Manager Audit and Risk and is required to effectively advise, influence and negotiate internally at senior levels. External stakeholder management includes government agencies, professional firms, and contractors.
• Provide advice to the City’s leadership regarding identification, assessment, and preparation for disruption risks to support the City’s Business Continuity.
• Provide expertise in formulating, designing, and implementing a range of initiatives, programs, and frameworks in the areas of Risk and Business Continuity management.
• Provide strategic and operational risk management and Business Continuity planning advice to the City’s senior leaders to respond to and deliver against emerging business priorities and wider initiatives.
• Build highly effective relationships and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to:
• Create and integrate Business Continuity plans, conducting and/or facilitating regular testing for continuous improvement actions.
• Conduct and/or facilitate risk assessments, providing feedback to responsible areas and ensuring the proper maintenance or all related records and operating frameworks (e.g., risk registers); and
• Ensure the City’s cross-organisational interrelated and interdependent plans (e.g. crisis management) are effectively and holistically managed.
• Deliver tailored risk analysis and Business Continuity reporting, training and/or presentations to targeted audiences at all organisational levels (E.g., Audit and Risk Committee).
• Develop risk treatment plans that promote sustainable, evidence-based practices to assists the City in achieving its strategic objectives.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and improve organisational Risk and Business Continuity templates.
• Effectively manage, administer, and maintain the City’s risk management system/s and or software to ensure accurate records and compliance with relevant standards.
• Lead City-wide risk management and Business Continuity planning efforts, monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of strategic and operational risk treatments.
• Monitor and analyse movements in the City’s strategic, and fraud and corruption, risk profiles, and provide effective insight reporting to relevant committees.
• Lead by example in the promotion and section maintenance of all work health, safety and well being policies, procedures, systems and practices to support a safety first culture and ensure the City’s duty of care and legislative obligations are maintained at all times.
