About the Role


As a Risk Specialist in our T&C Delivery, you’ll play a key role in helping to contribute to ANZ’s purpose and strategy. You will also provide operational risk and assurance expertise to the Talent and Culture functions which will include: 

  • monitor the T&C risk profile;
  • monitor emerging risks;
  • managing events including working with the business to identify root causes and appropriate treatment plans;
  • support the design and assessment of business controls;
  • support the function during various risk forums;
  • support the function to prepare Operational Risk Assessments and where appropriate, Risk Acceptances;
  • support change initiatives to help them understand the operational impact of the initiative to the existing risk profile, introduced risk and how to mitigate and or treat;
  • educate the functions on good risk management.

Role Location: preferred 833 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008
Role Type: 12 month Fixed Term Contract, Full-time

What will your day look like?

The role is accountable for:

  • Partnering with functions as first line risk to understand their risk profile, potential risks and support on risk management framework such as: 
    • operational risk assessments for BAU and funded change; 
    • oversight of control design and testing; 
    • business response to regulatory risk; 
    • event management and treatment plans. 
  • Support implementation of the new ANZ Risk framework (IAM Amplified) which requires each area to assess new risks for applicability, risk rating and build a plan to mitigate the risk via building controls or attestations. 
  • Build ongoing understanding of regulatory and business operational risk environment, monitoring for emerging risks, upcoming legislative change and shifts in regulator sentiment. 
  • Uplift and educate functions on risk themes to uplift risk understanding and culture. 

What will you bring?

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 

  • Experience/knowledge of operational risk 
  • Experience within financial services
  • Self-driven leadership and team building skills
  • Courage and commitment to drive change and challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to establish, build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders of varying seniority and influence/negotiate change with senior stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Project management skills, ability to manage priorities and conflicting issues in a professional/risk-based manner.
  • Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal) to engage and influence.


The ‘good to have’ knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are: 

  • Governance experience in/from the Financial Services industry or from other large/international organisations
  • Human Resources experience
  • Problem solving skills
  • Self-reliant and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
