 REGISTRARS – GENERAL MEDICINE | WORK IN AUSTRALIA’S CAPITAL CITY | 12 MONTHS


Our client, a major teaching hospital in Australia’s Capital City is looking for Registrars to join the Department of Medicine.

The Position:

The hospital is seeking Registrars– General Medicine to join their team. The department is accredited for 18 months. 

The hospital is looking for suitably qualified medical practitioners to work as medical registrars within the ACT Hospital network.
 
These positions are suitable for applicants in their third postgraduate year or above and who have previous experience in practicing hospital internal medicine or undertaking training in a related specialist training program (e.g. intensive care medicine, emergency medicine, general practice).
 
Medical registrars will work alongside Basic and Advanced Physician Trainees in the fields of General Medicine and sub-specialty internal medicine rotations.

The Hospital:

The Hospital is a 600+ bed tertiary level health facility and major trauma centre, offering state of the art medical and surgical subspecialty services. It is a teaching hospital of the Australian National University Medical School. The location is also home to many leading research organisations.

  • The University Hospital Specialist Centre for Rehabilitation, Recovery and Research: a dedicated and purpose-built rehabilitation facility, with 140 inpatient beds, 75-day places and additional outpatient services.
  • Three Walk-in Centres: which provide free treatment for minor illness and injury.
  • Six community health centres: providing a range of general and specialist health services to people of all ages.
  • A range of community based health services including early childhood services, youth and women’s health, dental health, mental health and alcohol and drug services.


Enjoy a reputation of exemplary care, services include a busy Emergency Department with 70,000 – 75,000 presentations per annum, an Intensive and Coronary Care Unit, medical and surgical wards, a Maternity Unit, a voluntary psychiatric ward, and ambulatory care and outreach facilities and services

The General Medicine Unit:

  • General medical unit that provides care for patients with undifferentiated medical conditions
  • Short stay beds for surgical care for patients with undifferentiated surgical conditions
  • Unit is run by supervisors with an interest in General Medicine, geriatric medicine, infectious diseases, cardiology, respiratory medicine and gastroenterology
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary assessments
  • Exposure to safe handover processes to ensure the safe transition of patient care to other ward medical teams
