Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) basis for 2 years.
Duties
- Identify and propose athletes for categorisation within TIS Development and Rowing Performance Squads.
- Deliver daily training on water in both Hobart and Launceston. Working flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as well as camps, competitions, and other training venues as required.
- Utilise contemporary coaching practices in a rowing environment, motivating and empowering identified athletes.
- Maintain positive relationships with schools and clubs' coaches with athletes that are in both rowing environments.
- Maintain open communication and collaboration with Rowing Tasmania about TIS pathway activity.
- Develop and implement individual performance plans (including competition plans) for TID Development Squad and TIS Rowing Performance Squad athletes.
- Use athlete monitoring and training technologies to maximise training availability and enhance performance aligned with the individual performance plan.
- Support the TIS head Rowing Coach with coaching and coordinating training programs for TIS HP athletes as required.
- Undertake additional duties within the TIS environment.
Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration
- National Police Clearance
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Driver's Licence
- Current boat licence
- Experience Rowing Coaching at Underage (U19, U21, U23) National level or higher
- Successful completion of -
- Sport Integrity Australia Anti-Doping Fundamentals Course
- Sports Integrity Australia Competition Manipulation and Sports Betting Course
Desirable Requirements
- Level 2 National Rowing Coaching accreditation or
- Coaching certification and or experience with other sporting disciplines at national and/or international levels would be deemed an advantage.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge and/or qualification in either sports performance services, sports science, strength & conditioning, performance analysis.

- Serious drug offences
- Crimes involving dishonesty
- Serious traffic offences (if Driver's Licence is an essential requirement)
