About RSPCA WA

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) WA is the state's leading voice in animal welfare.  RSPCA WA is managed locally but works toward the goals of the organisation Australia-wide.  On an average day, we employ around 100 staff, and we have the support of an amazing group of volunteers.  Together, our team works diligently toward preventing animal cruelty.

About this opportunity

Working as part of the Inspectorate team, this position is tasked with organising cruelty reports and assigning them to metro Inspectors for completion. The role will support the Inspector Coordinator and Inspector Manager in ensuring that animal welfare is a priority at all levels. The role will also provide much needed administrative support to the Inspectorate operations and coordination.

This role is full-time, 38 hours per week, based in Malaga. Historically, RSPCA WA Inspectors have worked on their own, but we are in the process of transitioning to two up model where all Inspectors will work in a rotating pair.

This role requires someone who has excellent communication and organisation skills, able to prioritise tasks and is confident using a range of software. The role predominantly works in a system called Sheltermate.

  • Compile information relating to complaints for review.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cases.
  • Assist with rosters and daily run sheets for all Inspectors as required.
  • Provide high-level administrative assistance to the Inspectorate such as providing information to support reporting activities.
  • Participate in all Inspectorate compulsory activities, including performance and development reviews, toolbox meetings and team meetings.

  • Highly organised, efficient, confident and able to prioritise and problem solve.
  • Must demonstrate high standards and practice of ethical conduct and behaviour.
  • Possession of a C class driver’s licence.
  • The successful applicant will require a police clearance.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of animal welfare issues and the ability to interpret and consider relevant legislation.
  • Prior experience in animal related fields.
  • Prior use of Sheltermate.
  • Someone who has worked in a prior dispatching style role will be highly regarded.
