What you'll be doing:
This 4 day a week position is a multi-level/grade position open to applicants with varying skills levels, we encourage all interested applicants to apply, a table with the various expectations and accountabilities for each level is available upon request. Pay level will change according to applicant level. It is a temporary role based upon recurrent funding for review in June 2026.
The successful candidate will be part of the new Safe Wayz program coordinating an integrated response for children under 10 with problematic harmful sexualised behaviours (PHSBs), their families and communities. Safe Wayz adopts a strength-based, family focussed and culturally centred trauma-informed approach to working with children and families to help keep behaviours from escalating. This role coordinates pathways into specialist counselling services for children and families who need them and will hold a small clinical case load.
The Safe Wayz Program also coordinates primary prevention initiatives to educate children, families, schools, carers, community and professionals about problematic & harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB) including guidance on developmentally appropriate sexual behaviours. This will involve building capacities to identify and understand PHSB, collaboration with agency partners, provision of consultation and training, whilst also advocating for system and practice changes.
The program team will include one Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identified Role, and one non identified position. The Aboriginal Safe Wayz Clinician will lead engagement with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and clients; also providing cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with First Nations children and families. The team will be supported through a state-wide clinical network, who will provide clinical and cultural connections, and support in undertaking this work. As an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Safe Wayz Clinician you will have access to individual cultural supervision.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selecetion criteria to be addressed: * This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position.   • Accepted qualifications include: Social Work : Qualification in Social Work which provides eligibility for full membership to Australian Association of Social Workers or Psychology: General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and, for Senior Psychologist, a current Senior Psychologist or eligible for Senior Psychologist grading (with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate) and, for Clinical Psychologist, an accredited Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with endorsement or working towards endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Experience providing culturally appropriate trauma focused therapeutic supports for Aboriginal individuals and families in regards to sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement, and collaborations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between issues of intergenerational trauma, colonisation, sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a therapeutic team and to manage competing tasks in a busy service.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence and ability to participate in the 24/7 crisis on-call service.
