What you'll be doing
The Safe Wayz Program is for children under the age of 10 years who display problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB). The Safe Wayz Senior Clinician roles {1.6 FTE) will sit within the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response·Service (IVPRS) structure.
IVPRS is responsible for strategic leadership, clinical service provision and capacity building for the portfolio areas of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child protection.
The Safe Wayz Senior Clinicians are responsible for the co-ordination of the Program within WSLHD, adopting a strength based, family focused, culturally centered, trauma informed approach to working with children and families to help prevent problematic or harmful behaviours from escalating.

Essential Criteria:
Qualifications: Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor's degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership
Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Graduate Certificate in Human & Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma) and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership
- Demonstrated ability to create community connections, engagement and collaboration to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, contextual and causal factors for violence, abuse and neglect and the principles of cultural safety.
- Demonstrated understanding and skills in child centred, family focussed counselling, support and case management to address problematic or harmful sexual behaviours with young children and their carers.
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals and their families and a commitment to accessing clinical and cultural supervision and professional education.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with an ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
- Demonstrated experience participating in and/or leading quality improvement activities and service development and evaluation.
- Valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
