The newly created role of Safeguarding Lead will build and grow Anglicare WA’s capacity to adhere to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (CSO) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Practice Standards and Quality Indicators. This unique role, despite not being on the front line or client facing, will work closely with all service delivery and corporate team areas and engage with internal as well as external stakeholders to amplify and continuously embed communication, accreditation compliance (CSO and NDIS) and organisational commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable people. The Safeguarding Lead will also, in close collaboration with the practice excellence team, coordinate the administration of the client and external complaint process in line with Anglicare WA complaints management framework.

This is a full time permanent role based in East Perth.


What you will bring

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Science, Policy and/or related fields and relevant experience.
  • Current knowledge of best practice models around safeguarding as well as findings, outcomes and recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability
  • Substantial experience in a similar role overseeing and managing projects, programs or change initiatives.
  • Highly developed external stakeholder management skills with the ability to network effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication working with a diverse and broad range of people
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the added ability to lead and influence
  • Strategic thinking; a holistic, multi-dimensional approach to understanding complex service systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, think analytically and be solution focused.
  • Highly adaptive, pragmatic, pro-active and ability to embrace change.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be flexible, demonstrate initiative and work effectively under pressure in a team environment 

The successful candidate must posses a National Police Clerance valid within the last 12 months and a current Working with Children Check.

  • Salary packaging of up to $15,900 (which equates to circa $4K after tax) plus additional salary packaging of up to $2,650 for meal and entertainment expenses
