The Role:
The Safeguarding Lead is responsible for leading and managing the ongoing development and improvement of program services to realise Child Safe cultures and outcomes for Catholic schools, parishes and Diocesan entities, informed by the Child and Youth Risk Management Strategies.
Essential Criteria:
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos.
- Formal qualification (Cert IV minimum or equivalent) in investigation processes and procedures and proven track record in conducting complex, sensitive and safe investigations.
- Minimum of 5 years of safeguarding experience (children or adults at risk).
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of Mandatory Reporting and Child Protection legislation in the NT.
- Demonstrate a high level of planning and organisational skill, including curiosity of mind and an eye for detail.
- Experience in developing, coordinating and delivering training and mentoring.
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures.
- Demonstrate excellent written communication (reports, policies, etc.) and oral communication with management and relevant stakeholders.
- Ability to travel in light aircraft, drive 4WD vehicles and work away from home as required.
Other requirements:
- Hold and maintain a valid NT Drivers Licence.
- A valid current criminal history (police) check and working with children clearance (Ochre card).
The appointment of the successful applicant will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with legislation. This position will require working with children clearance.
