About the Opportunity
To facilitate engineering safety compliance activities to ensure the safe development and deployment of the ARTC Safeworking System Product, and to assist in providing assurance to ensure the necessary approvals are achieved for operation of the Safeworking System, including achieving accreditation from ONRSR.
- Ensure all safety engineering activities relating to the development and deployment of the ARTC Safeworking System comply with ARTC's Safety Management System, CENELEC Standards and good practice such as contained within iESM principles.
- Facilitate engagement between stakeholders required to achieve/maintain internal approvals and accreditation of ARTC's Safeworking System and in accordance with ARTC's Safety Management System.
- Review safety related deliverables, processes, safety requirements and mitigation strategies required to support the various ARTC Safeworking System Safety Cases and Safety Assurance Reports.
- Engage with the Independent Safety Assessor(s) and suppliers to ensure effective response to safety related deliverables and responses to questions.
- Support Rail Systems representatives that liaise with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator.
- Coordinate and, where required, facilitate safety related risk assessments in accordance with ARTC's Safety Management System.
- Attend the ATMS Safety Sub-Committee comprising safety personnel from the Rail Systems team, the System Integrator and the Independent Safety Assessor(s).
- Maintain Safety Assurance frameworks specified in ARTC's Safety Management System to be used in the development and deployment of ARTC's Safeworking System.
- Support ARTC's Type Approval process by facilitating provision of Safety Cases and related safety deliverables as required.
- Provide safety related advice to ARTC's Safeworking System operations, engineering and project management staff.
- Support the development, review and approval of ARTC's Safeworking System Safety Assurance documentation.
- Other duties as directed by the Safety Assurance Manager.
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
Essential Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Communications, Systems or Signaling),
- Technology or equivalent related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating safe working system assessment and/or regulatory accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience in the planning and facilitation of safety plan creation.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, coordination and sub-contracting of works.
- Strong interpersonal skills, such as communication and negotiation, including the ability to express ideas and thoughts clearly and succinctly in both written and oral form.
- The ability to understand the relationship between technical and operational factors, safety and commercial outcomes, and impact on customers.
Desirable Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in the development, deployment and organisational integration of a safety critical software system.
- Prior experience in Safety Assurance for a delivery of a technology-based project into a safeworking environment.
- Understanding of railway signalling, rules or practices in the rail industry.
- Understanding of CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129 and its application to the lifecycle of a system.
- Experience with system development within a multi-stage program.
