Are you a safety Coordinator looking for your next challenge? Our client is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Safety Coordinator (Major Projects) to join their amazing team on a 12-month contract basis.
About the Role:
This role provides specialist Work Health and Safety advice and support to the Asset Development and Delivery team through all phases of capital works project planning and delivery, whilst maintaining focus and attention on the in the field implementation of those plans.
What your day will look like:
• Assistance in the development of safe scopes of work, risk assessments, safety in design, hazard analysis, requests for tender and contract development for Major and Complex projects.
• Plans and conducts WHS pre-qualification audits as part of tender response, analysis of safe systems of work, and appraisal of tenderers response against FPA and legislative requirements.
• Reviews and appraises the adequacy of contractor WHS components within Project Management plans and associated documentation and monitors the implementation of those plans in the field.
• Facilitates FPA or supports Contractor risk assessment workshops (i.e., CRAW, HAZID, HAZOP etc.)
• Coordinates, develops, and delivers site and project WHS inductions.
• Coordinates, develops and delivers WHS campaigns in conjunction with FPA and Contractors plans.
• Assists project staff in monitoring contractor work and WHS management in the field.
• Audits Works contractor safety management system and safety plan implementation during project execution.
• Coordinates, conducts or supports incident investigations and monitors improvement action implementation.
• Supports injury management.
• Coordinates and monitors implementation of hazard controls and other WHS actions, regulatory changes, and initiatives.
• Provides emergency response WHS advice and support.
• Liaises and shares practice and knowledge with other members of the safety team.
• Researches and provides advice and support on WHS issues such as occupational hygiene, hazardous substances, high risk work, etc.
• Supports contractor performance reviews.
About You:
You will hold tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and capability. You will possess experience in WHS management and implementation in construction projects or other heavy industries. In addition to this you will hold:
• ICAM lead investigator or similar
• Current first aid qualification
• Unrestricted 'C' class driver's license
• Usability Mapping trained (desirable)
• Understanding of the application of Human and Organisational factors (desirable)
