Our client is a well known Satellite Communication company, which operates a Low Earth Orbit satellite network providing Global Coverage for the past 20 years. They have several ground stations in Australia and globally, and are looking for an experienced Satellite Gateway Manager for their Meekatharra Gateway.
You will need to be a qualified Electronics/Communication Engineer or RF Technician, and have experience with Satellite Gateway Operations, as you will need to provide hands on technical support as part of your role. You will be managing a small local team, but interacting with National and International Teams to ensure uptime is as close to 100% as possible.
You will have had exposure to Satcom systems, be great at troubleshooting RF assemblies and gateway computer systems, plus have experience with various test equipment such as Signal Generators, Spectrum Analysers, and DVM's. You will also oversee other facility components such as HVAC, Fire Suppression and Power Systems.
As this is a Management role, you will require great people skills, be highly organised, and have a proven track record managing a technical site or projects. Purchasing, financial budgeting, resource planning and reporting will form part of your duties. You will need to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to. Upgrades to the site will require your project management skills.
Computer networking skills will be highly regarded as well as the ability to work unsupervised. The uptime of the facility is critical, and you will need to troubleshoot electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems alongside your technical team. Occasionally some heavy lifting of equipment will be required.
