What you'll be doing

The LGBTIQ

  • Health Coordinator works across

The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) to ensure the provision of inclusive, accessible and culturally appropriate healthcare for patients, families and carers. Working under the direction of the Priority Populations Service Reform Lead, the LGBTIQ

  • Health Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating an integrated approach to delivering high quality, safe, inclusive and responsive health care to the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) to enhance patient experiences and outcomes for LGBTIQ
  • patients and families within the SCHN, in alignment with the NSW LGBTIQ
  • Health Strategy 2022-2027 (referred to within this application as ‘the Strategy’).

The Coordinator will provide project leadership to identify gaps in LGBTIQ

  • equity, culture and system responsiveness within the SCHN through consultation with key stakeholders.

With the support of the Priority Populations Service Reform lead, the role will then lead the co-design, implementation and evaluation of strategies to enhance service accessibility, inclusivity and experience for LGBTIQ

  • patients, families and carers within the SCHN.

 
Working across the SCHN, the Coordinator will collaborate with a range of clinical and support services as well as external partners including Local Health Districts. The LGBTIQ+ Coordinator will undertake project management tasks, including monitoring and reporting progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), build capacity and drive organisational and cultural change through engagement of key stakeholders to support sustainability
  1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications or relevant experience within Business/Communications or Health. A degree in a relevant field (Business/Communications or Health), or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the unique health needs, experiences and barriers to healthcare for LGBTIQ+ children, young people and their families and the relevant policies and frameworks that exist to address these.
  3. Demonstrated experience in project management, change management and quality improvement in a healthcare setting
  4. High-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including writing of briefs, policies, and presentation skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and prioritise competing demands to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  6. Demonstrated high level influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills including to support organisational change.
  7. Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain positive professional relationships with key stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical) internally and externally to the SCHN.
  8. Demonstrated computer literacy, I.T skills and proficiency to use same to support quality improvement and project management initiatives.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.​

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
