School Bus Driver

As a seasoned Bus Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to their destinations. Your primary responsibility will be to operate buses following established routes and schedules while prioritising the safety of your passengers. A customer-focused approach, coupled with a commitment to punctuality and reliability, is essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Safe Transport:

• Execute safe driving practices in compliance with traffic rules and regulations.
• Conduct pre-starts and post-trip inspections to ensure the mechanical soundness of the bus.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to safeguard passengers and maintain a secure environment while students are on board.

Customer Service Excellence:

• Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills to provide a welcoming and courteous atmosphere for students and families.
• Handle inquiries, address concerns, and provide assistance as needed.
• Maintain a professional and positive demeanour, contributing to a pleasant overall experience for everyone involved with Regional Transit.

Adherence to Schedule:

• Execute bus routes according to established schedules, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to unforeseen circumstances, such as traffic or weather-related delays, to minimize disruptions to the schedule.

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Conduct routine inspections to identify and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure the ongoing reliability and safety of the bus fleet.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, mileage, and passenger counts.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or operational issues to the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Be aged over 24 years of age. 
• Hold full driver’s licence in the relevant class 
• Have a current PTD Authorisation 
• Working with Children Check 
• Federal Police Clearance 
• HLTAID011 First Aid Certificate
• Proven track record of safe driving and a clean driving record.
• Excellent knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and routes.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Punctuality and reliability with a demonstrated commitment to adhering to schedules.
