Our Environment
St Virgil’s College is a Kindergarten to Year 12 school for boys, founded in 1911 and conducted by Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA). The aim of the College is to support parents in educating their sons within the Catholic tradition and the spirit of Edmund Rice.
The St Virgil’s Junior School (Kindergarten to Year 6) is located in Patrick Street, Hobart, adjacent to St Mary’s Cathedral. The secondary campus (Year 7 to 12) is situated on an expansive property at Main Rd, Austins Ferry.
Providing a K-12 pathway for boys education, and with our recent growth and development, the College is seeking experienced and motivated teaching staff.
All roles within the College are informed by the mission of a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition.
The Job
Teachers will work with the Heads of Departments and other teachers to develop engaging curriculum in line with the requirements of the Australian Curriculum and to follow the College’s assessment and reporting guidelines.
The position will need to exhibit a personal commitment to the mission and vision of St Virgil's College and work within the confines of Commonwealth Privacy legislation.

- Demonstrated understanding and respect for the Catholic educational philosophy of St Virgil's College.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully plan and deliver both theory and practical application in food and Hospitality that enhance educational outcomes for boys.
- Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach within the specified subject areas.
- Demonstrated understanding of the major educational issues impacting upon boys
- Understanding and demonstrated commitment to the Catholic and EREA philosophy and ethos of education.
Personal Qualities
- Friendly, positive manner and disposition.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to problem solve and to work as part of a team.
- Understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school
