The AEC's focus is on Electoral Integrity through the values of quality, agility and professionalism.The TeamThe AEC Command Centre (AECCC) and Protective Security section comprises three key functions within the team which includes Protective Security, the AECCC Watch Officers and the Network Operational Communications (NOC). Protective Security’s role is to build security awareness within AEC, empowering our people to undertake risk-informed, security conscious business practices as part of their day-to day activities.The team promotes a positive security culture through easy-to-use tools and easy to access awareness campaigns, which enhances AEC capability, grows the public’s confidence, and keeps our people and business safe. The AEC Command Centre and Protective Security section is part of the Electoral Integrity and Media Branch.The OpportunityThe Administration Officer plays an integral role in supporting all security related activities undertaken during business-as-usual operations and federal electoral events.Under direction, the role assists with administrative functions relating to several facets of security including: the facilitation of security clearance assessments; the conduct of police checks and associated employment checks; the production and enabling of building access cards; developing security tools and awareness documentation; and assisting to provide security advice, guidance and reporting analysis to AEC Executive.Success in this role will require the ability to operate and deliver in a highly dynamic environment and the ability to support effective engagement between the protective security team and key business stakeholders. There may be a requirement to work extended hours and overtime for the period of election events.To excel you’ll have:
- Proven ability to use Microsoft Office products, specifically intermediate Excel skills.
- Knowledge and experience in successfully completing high volume of allocated tasks to a compliant standard while delivering results within competing timeframes and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication with proven ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to build a productive working relationship and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
- Proven ability to act with discretion and integrity in managing sensitive and confidential information.
- AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
