Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Operations Supervisor to manage the University’s physical and electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV, and the Two-Way Radio System. This role involves fault-finding within the systems, assisting in the design of physical security for new buildings and refurbishments, and managing security and emergency incidents across the University’s five campuses.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and administer the electronic security systems (access control, security alarm, Two-Way Radio System, and CCTV). This includes developing and reviewing designs for new installations and performing diagnostics on existing systems to maintain optimal performance levels and ensure compliance with legislation and industry standards.
  • Conduct security systems risk audits (CPTED and Defence in Depth) to ensure the safety and security of all university stakeholders.
  • Oversee day-to-day management of security system contracts and contractors.
  • Assist in managing security and emergency incidents across the University’s five campuses.
  • Maintain a high-level knowledge of industry trends and issues to provide timely and expert advice to the Security Manager and other university senior management.
  • Supervise, support, and train the Support Services Officer (and any additional casual staff) to ensure client satisfaction through effective response and complaint management.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have completed a relevant tertiary qualification, or, an equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience. You must be able to demonstrate a high-level of knowledge and experience in the installation and management of electronic access control and CCTV systems.

In addition, you will have a high-level knowledge of IT systems (including SQL and system integration) and be able to demonstrate experience in undertaking security risk assessments and audits using a number of industry-recognised methodologies.

What we can offer
This is a continuing, full time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 7 range $96,669 - $104,731 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $113,103 - $122,535 per annum.
