About Us
The Security Business unit, as part of the greater Property, Development and Commercial Services Office (PDCSO), plays a pivotal part in protecting the University's physical assets and ensure the safety and wellbeing of its people, and supports the teaching, research, and commercial activities of Murdoch University.
The Role
Primarily responsible for the efficient administration and maintenance of the University's security operating systems, the Security Systems Coordinator will utilise electronic access control, CCTV networks, key management, intruder detection and duress alarms to oversee the day-to-day operations of University access for all electronic and mechanical systems.
Reporting to the Security Services Manager, the coordinator will report and advise on systems performance, works requests and upgrades, and work effectively with the Security Operations Coordinator and Security Supervisor / Control Room Operator to enable the daily operations to be supported and delivered cohesively and efficiently.
Working primarily at the Murdoch campus, the position may require the undertaking of Security Systems duties at any of the University's campuses, and possible after hours work may be required from time to time.
What you'll bring to this role
- Completion of a Certificate II or higher in Technical Security, and / or at least 2 years relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience in CCTV, Access Control and IP Based Networking / Security Technology Software.
- Proven experience working well in a team environment and the ability to share knowledge with team members and stakeholders.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively deal with difficult situations in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to conceptualise, prioritise and problem solve with limited supervision.
- Commitment to providing a high level of customer service and always maintaining confidentiality.
- Competent computing skills including experience working with Microsoft Office and security related databases.
- Valid WA Motor Vehicle License
