About the role

The City is responsible for the management of over $3 billion of community assets, including community buildings and public open spaces requiring asset protection (Physical Security).

This position is directly accountable and responsible for leading and supervising the City’s Building Security Services IT/OT team and service delivery. The position is primarily focused on managing, monitoring, and maintaining the City’s Physical Security computing environment.  This includes systems, applications, servers, infrastructure and networks to ensure optimal performance, security, and integrity of systems that provide asset protection and enhance safety for City of Swan staff, visitors and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting and administering the City’s on-premises enterprise Physical Security solution stack including electronic security management systems (access control and intruder detection), video surveillance systems (CCTV), electronic key safe systems and intercom systems that protect and secure the City’s assets and underpin the City’s on-premises Security Control Room.
  • Ongoing monitoring of operational status of the Physical Security computing environment, troubleshooting and resolving any issues arising.
  • Supporting and administering the on-premises Microsoft Active Directory and domain services for the City’s Physical Security computing environment.
  • Directing and managing external security contractors delivering specialist IT/OT engineering and technician services.
  • Working with vendors to support the City’s Physical Security IT / OT operations, including project scoping, project implementation, system and hardware maintenance, and other processes.
  • Working with other IT and peer teams to ensure standards and technologies are in line with the City’s overall technical direction and security posture.
  • Ensuring the team deliver outstanding customer service and be community minded with a willingness to improve the quality of life for our community.
  • Act as the SME in the IT/OT team and provide technical advice.
  • Complete all work in a safe and efficient manner having regard to own safety, the public, and that of other workers.

The incumbent is required to obtain and hold current WA Security Consultant and Security Installer Licenses and possess in-depth knowledge and experience in IT and OT governance, best practices, processes, relevant technologies and infrastructure. 

About you

Ideally you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary (degree or post graduate) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Established experience and understanding of an IT or OT Systems Administrator role within a Government and / or Commercial environment
  • Current Security Consultant and Security Installer Licences (Class 2) or Must be willing and able to obtain (within agreed timeframe)
  • Safety Awareness Training Certificate (White Card)
  • A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.
